For others, it may only be used occasionally. We adapt each session to the individual and how they prefer to communicate and engage in telehealth therapy.
Usually, what you already have at home is enough. Online art therapy and counselling sessions can be done with very simple materials, such as pens, pencils and paper. You might use drawing or other creative activities during the session while talking through thoughts, feelings or experiences as a way to regulate to enable reflective conversation or you may take pauses during conversation to use art materials to draw about particular experiences to deepen your therapy process. Your Art Therapist can also suggest other materials you may like to purchase if you want more options at home. You may also make art between sessions and bring it to your next appointment to explore with your Art Therapist.
