Beth Downing

Beth Downing (she/her) is a Registered Art Therapist and Counsellor, and a team member of Finding Wellbeing Art Therapy & Counselling. Beth provides individual Art Therapy on Mondays and Fridays at Yellow Gum Art Therapy Studio, and is available for outreach during the rest of the week.

Beth specialises in working with children, young people, and families. She is passionate about using a child-centered and attachment lens, and working collaboratively with children and families in order to provide compassionate and individualised care. Beth supports clients with a diverse range of concerns but is particularly interested in supporting trauma, relational and family concerns, grief and loss, neurodivergence, and complex mental health. Beth’s work is grounded in attunement, and respect for each person’s internal world and pace. 

During her training, Beth undertook placement as an Art Therapist in acute inpatient mental health with adolescents, and at a public primary school. Prior to becoming an Art Therapist, Beth worked as a freelance nanny, and as a classroom assistant facilitating art groups. Beth has a background studying Fine Arts, is a practicing artist, and has a keen interest in creative writing.

• Master of Art Therapy (La Trobe University)

• Bachelor of Fine Arts (Victorian College of the Arts)

• Professional Member of ANZACATA

• ACA Member, Level 2
